Aboyne Academy has an established school uniform, and all pupils are expected to identify with the school by wearing the uniform.
The uniform also assists with security in the school building and grounds. Uniform makes it easy to identify people who should not be on school property.
A member of the Senior Leadership Team is at the pupil entrance every morning to welcome pupils and to ensure that they are in school uniform.
The uniform options are:
A navy or black sweatshirt with school badge (S1-3 Navy, S4-6 Black) with a white polo shirt with school badge under the sweatshirt.
A white shirt and navy or black V-neck jumper with school tie (S1-3 Navy, S4-6 Black). All new S1 pupils will be provided with a tie if they want one. Any pupil representing the school at an event or activity is expected to wear the school tie.
Sensible dark coloured footwear.
Navy or black skirts (very short skirts are not suitable) or black trousers including smart black jeans (other colours of denim jeans are not permitted). Girls may wear thick black non-sports leggings (thin/sports leggings are not suitable) but must have a change of leggings if they have PE.
Optional PE Uniform (House Colour T Shirts) are also available. Sports kit should not be worn outwith PE classes unless PE is the final period of the day.
Items of clothing which are not acceptable include denim jeans other than those described above, tracksuits, surfer shorts and t-shirts/sweatshirts decorated with slogans, wording or designs. Hats or hoods should not be worn inside the school building.
Some school clubs/trips organise a hoodie as part of the experience. These can be very handy on trips but do not form part of school uniform. School hoodies should not be worn to school as an alternative to school uniform.
In the summer months, the building can become hot and if pupils wish to remove their sweatshirt, then they must be wearing a polo shirt or shirt and tie. Any pupil who arrives without uniform will be required to sign out one of our stock sweatshirts for the day.
Aberdeenshire Council can, in some circumstances, provide a grant towards the costs of school clothing and footwear if you receive certain benefits. The grant is £150 per year (1st April to 31st March) for each child. More information about this can be found at: https://www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/schools/school-info/assistance/school-clothing-grants/
Orders can be placed online via our uniform suppliers, Image Scotland. Your garments will be made and despatched to your home or the school address within 28 days of placing your order. You can opt for either home delivery at a small charge or free delivery to the school. Orders should be placed no later than Friday 25th April to allow time for the orders to arrive here before they are issued to pupils on their final induction day in June: Aboyne Academy Uniform Shop
